On a Wednesday afternoon in Stockbridge, Georgia, 46-year-old bail recovery agent Curtis Johnson was fatally shot while at the Southwinds Point Apartments on April 16, 2025. Johnson had been at the complex reportedly to execute a warrant. Calls to police about suspicious individuals believed to be bounty hunters were followed by multiple reports of gunfire. Officers who arrived found Johnson dead outside an apartment and a blood trail and shell casings leading inside.
Inside the residence officers located 30-year-old Edward Atkins, a resident of the apartment, also dead of gunshot wounds in a bedroom. Colleagues described Johnson as a courageous, fearless, and cautious professional who prioritized safety. In the weeks after the double homicide, authorities identified a suspect and issued an arrest warrant for 23-year-old Romello Jabari Faison on charges of murder, burglary, and impersonating a police officer in connection with both deaths. The investigation remains ongoing.
If anyone has information about Romello Jabari Faison’s whereabouts or the events at Southwinds Point Apartments on April 16, please contact the Stockbridge Police Department.
