Daniel Blalock, a 27-year-old Black man from North Chicago, was shot and killed on May 8, 2025 while seated in a vehicle outside a residence in the 400 block of North Sheridan Road in Waukegan. Emergency crews found him about 11:59 a.m.; he was taken to Vista Medical Center East and pronounced dead shortly after arrival. An autopsy by the Lake County Coroner’s Office listed multiple gunshot wounds as the cause of death.

The Waukegan Police Department’s Major Crime Scene Unit and Criminal Investigations Division processed the scene; Sheridan Road was closed between Grand Avenue and Cory Avenue for several hours as investigators collected evidence. As of May 9, 2025, no arrests had been announced and police had not released suspect or motive information. Blalock’s death was reported as the seventh homicide in Lake County for the year and the second in Waukegan within a week. A memorial page has been set up in his honor.
