Johnny Ray Gomez Jr., 17, of Pleasanton, Texas, was found fatally shot on February 27, 2025, alongside his 14-year-old brother Mesiah Rangel behind their home. Their mother discovered both boys unresponsive with gunshot wounds and contacted authorities; Pleasanton Police confirmed both teenagers died of their injuries. The department’s Criminal Investigation Division, assisted by the Texas Rangers, processed the scene and collected evidence.

Investigators quickly identified two juvenile suspects. Officers located the suspects inside a vehicle and reportedly found evidence tying them to the shooting; additional evidence was recovered at two other Pleasanton locations. The two juvenile males were taken into custody and charged with Capital Murder and are being held in the Atascosa County Jail. The investigation remains ongoing.

Johnny, born May 17, 2007, in Seguin, Texas, was known for his music—writing and performing rap—along with gaming, art, and fishing. A funeral will be held at Palmer Mortuary and the community has organized fundraising to help the family. If anyone knew Johnny or has information about what happened, please come forward.
