Jacqueline Leah Lamp was a 13-year-old girl from Hermosa Beach, California, who was abducted, assaulted, and murdered on September 3, 1979. She and 15-year-old Jackie Gilliam were taken while waiting at a bus stop and lured into a van under false pretenses. The two girls were held captive for nearly two days and subjected to prolonged violence; the perpetrators recorded parts of their crimes on audio tapes that captured the victims’ pleas for mercy.
The attackers were Lawrence Sigmond Bittaker and Roy Lewis Norris, who had met in prison and later targeted teenage girls across Los Angeles County. Both men were arrested and charged with multiple counts including kidnapping, rape, torture, and murder. Norris cooperated with prosecutors; Bittaker was convicted and sentenced to death.
Jacqueline’s murder remains one of the most disturbing cases from that period. Does anyone have information about Jacqueline, Jackie Gilliam, or what happened near that bus stop in Hermosa Beach?
