On the afternoon of June 3, 2025, police went to an apartment in the 5600 block of Regency Park Court in Suitland, Maryland, after a report of a shooting. Inside they found two men with gunshot wounds. Thirty-two-year-old Myandre McBride, a Suitland resident, was pronounced dead at the scene; the other man was taken to a hospital in critical but stable condition.

Investigators determined the shooting was not random and linked it to an ongoing dispute between the suspect and Myandre McBride. Detectives identified a suspect and, within days, arrested 35-year-old James Stewart of Upper Marlboro. Stewart was charged with first-degree murder and other related counts and was committed to the Department of Corrections held without bond.
