Elissia Thomas, 31, died on the morning of May 18, 2025, in Baton Rouge after what authorities describe as a physical domestic dispute at a residence in the 12000 block of Gerald Drive. Officers found her clinging to life; she succumbed to injuries at the scene. Investigators said she had not been shot or stabbed, and that her injuries resulted from a physical altercation.
Police quickly identified her 37-year-old boyfriend, Casey Warren, as the primary suspect and issued a warrant charging him with second-degree murder. Warren was located later that same day; after leading officers on a vehicle pursuit he crashed, and then died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound as officers closed in. Elissia is remembered by family as a radiant person and the mother of three young daughters.
Did anyone who knew Elissia or her family see signs of trouble before May 18 that could help explain what happened?
