A neighbor dispute in the small town of Campbell, New York, turned deadly in early July. New York State Police troopers were called to Parker Road on Sunday, July 6, 2025, for a reported shooting and found 53-year-old William C. Tong with a gunshot wound. He was taken to Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pennsylvania, and died during surgery the next day, Monday, July 7, 2025.
A 41-year-old man, Devan J. Hall of Campbell, was at the scene and has been cooperating with investigators. As of mid-July 2025, investigators had not filed charges while the active investigation continued.
Anyone who witnessed the July 6 incident on Parker Road or who knew Tong or Hall and can help clarify what led to the confrontation is asked to come forward with information.
