Santiago Jimmy Moya Guerrero III, 34, was shot on the afternoon of October 1, 2025, inside a residence in the 3900 block of Navajo Street on Corpus Christi’s west side. Officers arrived around 1 p.m.; he was taken to CHRISTUS Spohn Shoreline and died of a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Police described a disturbance inside the home that escalated until a firearm was produced. Several people were initially detained as detectives worked the scene; by the next day the case was being treated as a homicide and an arrest was announced.
Authorities charged 44-year-old Jeffrey Berger with murder and said Berger and Guerrero were acquainted. Court and news records mention a related incident roughly ten months earlier at the same address in which Berger and Guerrero had been arrested after an alleged hostage incident involving threats and weapons and a 13-year-old victim. Neighbors reported sirens and police tape on the street, and an obituary identified Guerrero as a lifelong son of the Coastal Bend.
Did anyone in Corpus Christi know Guerrero, Berger, or the household on Navajo Street and have information that could help clarify what happened?
