Alec Braxton, a 60-year-old resident of Dillon County, was one of two men shot dead on East Dargan Street in Dillon, South Carolina, on the evening of Thursday, July 3, 2025. The shooting occurred around 5:00 p.m.; 30-year-old Jalik Bethea of Dillon County was also killed. Both victims were taken to Grand Strand Hospital for autopsies, and the Dillon County Coroner ruled their deaths homicides.

The City of Dillon Police Department responded to the scene and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division was called in to assist with the investigation. Authorities later identified Braxton and Bethea publicly but have not named any suspects or announced arrests. The double homicide remains an active investigation.
