On December 31, 2010, 17-year-old Christopher Jones was shot and killed outside his East Oakland home. He and his mother were preparing to leave for dinner before church when gunmen opened fire across the street, apparently aiming at a nearby car; Christopher was fatally struck and his older sister was wounded in the same incident.

Christopher was described as a talented musician and a promising student who hoped to attend Cal State East Bay to study music and digital arts. His death deeply affected the neighborhood, and more than 1,500 people attended his funeral.

Anyone who remembers that night or has information about the shooting is asked to come forward.
