Kenneth Lamar Spencer, 29, was shot and killed in the early morning hours of Friday, October 31, 2025, on the 300 block of Second Avenue in Tallassee, Alabama. Officers responding to a 911 call found Spencer with multiple gunshot wounds; he was taken by private vehicle to Tallassee Community Hospital and was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The scene was described as chaotic as first responders attempted to render aid.

Tallassee police arrested 39-year-old Robert Andrew Smith at the scene; he was charged with murder and transported to the Elmore County Detention Facility and is being held under Alabama’s Aniah’s Law. Authorities have not released a motive and are asking the public for information about what led to the confrontation that took Spencer’s life. Funeral services for Kenneth Lamar Spencer Jr. were held Saturday, November 8, 2025, at First Assembly of God in Tallassee, with interment at Rose Hill Cemetery.
