Towan Harrington, an 18-year-old Black man from the Bennettsville area of Marlboro County, South Carolina, was shot on the evening of January 26, 2026, after an altercation that investigators say escalated into gunfire. Bleeding and seeking help, he ran to Bennett Pointe Apartments near Cheraw Street/Cheraw Highway and reached a residence there, but died at the complex. Bullets also struck a vehicle and an apartment during the same incident, underscoring how close others came to being hit.
The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division helped process the scene while deputies gathered evidence and interviewed witnesses. Two arrests followed quickly: on January 28, 2026, Jeremy Davis Jr. was charged with accessory before the fact of murder, and on January 29, 2026, Braylin Wilson surrendered and was charged with murder in connection with Harrington’s death. Investigators continue to work to clarify each person’s role, motives, and the exact sequence of events.
If anyone has information about what happened that night or knew Harrington, please share what you can with investigators.
