Billy Charles Allen Jr., 29, was found fatally shot in the parking lot of a motel in the 3900 block of Ridgemont Drive in south Abilene just after 6 a.m. on March 5, 2026. Officers arriving at the scene discovered Allen with apparent gunshot wounds; he was unresponsive and a justice of the peace pronounced him dead at the scene. Police described the killing as an isolated incident, said there was no continuing danger to the public, and treated the case as a homicide that remained under active investigation.
Early local reports said one male suspect had been detained at the scene, but the identity of that person was not released and by the next day police said no arrest had been made; as of the latest reporting no formal charge, named suspect, trial, or conviction had been announced. Family members told television reporters they believed Allen may have gone to the motel to meet a woman and suspected the woman’s boyfriend was involved, though police did not confirm that as an official motive or theory. Allen’s obituary named him Lil Billy, born October 15, 1996, the youngest of four and a 2015 graduate of Abilene Cooper High School.
If anyone has information about Allen’s death or his movements the morning of March 5, please come forward.
