Sedell Barrios, a 19-year-old Black man from Harker Heights, died after being brought to Seton Hospital in the early hours of Sunday, March 22, 2026, following gunfire that struck occupants of a vehicle. Officers were called to the hospital around 5:00 a.m.; Barrios was listed in critical condition and died soon after arrival. A second 19-year-old man from Killeen survived and was later transferred to Baylor Scott & White for further treatment.

Initial investigation placed the shooting along the eastbound lanes of Interstate Highway 14, and detectives said the shots may have come from another vehicle. Police asked the public to look for a dark-colored Nissan sedan believed linked to the suspect or suspects. By March 24, 2026, investigators increasingly thought the shooting occurred in Nolanville, and Nolanville police and the Texas Rangers were brought in to take over or assist. No named suspect or arrest had been publicly announced.
