Karen Cecilia Tucker was 40 when she was last seen on January 3, 1991, on a bridge over the Elwha River in Port Angeles, Washington. Separated from her husband, she was living with her boyfriend at the Elwha River Resort and reportedly attended a party that evening where she appeared intoxicated and despondent. Temperatures were below freezing and snow was forecast; she had no access to a vehicle and all her personal belongings remained at home.

Karen had a history of suicidal thoughts, agoraphobia, disability, and relied on medication. Her daughter has suggested that alcohol combined with medication could have caused disorientation. The boyfriend reported her missing several days later and was not considered a suspect.

In May 2012 a human tibia was found in the drained bed of Lake Aldwell, prompting the sheriff’s office to reopen the case; no definitive connection to Karen has been announced and the original 1991 case file was reported lost. Did anyone in the Port Angeles area in early January 1991 see Karen near the Elwha River or the resort?
