Richard Ervin Liggins Jr. was 16 when he and friends were walking through a Tulsa neighborhood on the evening of January 29, 2006. As the group passed through the 1500 block of East 51st Street North, someone shot Richard once in the backyard of a residence at 1557 East 51st Street North. He was taken to a hospital but died of that gunshot wound on January 30, 2006.
The motive and the events that led to the shooting remain unclear. The Tulsa Police Department later listed the case as cold; no suspects have been publicly identified and no arrests have been announced. The family and community continue to seek answers about what happened that night.
If anyone was in the area that night or has information about Richard’s movements or who might have been at 1557 East 51st Street North on January 29, 2006, please come forward.
