Paula Thomason was 34 when she disappeared from Greenville, South Carolina, after her first day at a new job at a bib factory. Her family reported increasing worry in the days before she vanished on March 19, 1997; they say she called more often, said I love you more, and made vague comments about fearing for her life without explaining why.
Her remains were found May 8, 1997, at an abandoned dump site along Old Belton Highway in Anderson, about 26 miles from where she was last seen. The body was partially concealed, wrapped in an unidentified material, and identified by fingerprints and the clothing she had been wearing. The coroner determined she died by strangulation.
The Anderson Police Department investigated but the case went cold; no suspects were publicly named. The department reopened the investigation in February 2022, citing hopes that new forensic methods or tips could help, but no arrests have been announced. If anyone knew Paula, saw her in Greenville in March 1997, or has information about her last movements, please share what is known.
