Edward Crabtree, 51 and visiting from Rossville, Georgia, was found dead behind the L&N Hotel near Henley Street and Western Avenue in Knoxville on September 24, 1989. Investigators determined he died from a forceful blow to the right side of his head inflicted with a blunt object.
The scene suggested a robbery that turned fatal: one pocket had been turned inside out and Crabtree’s wallet was found about 60 feet from his body. The location is a public, high-traffic area, and despite that and the initial theory, the case produced no significant leads.
Who saw anything near the L&N Hotel on September 24, 1989, or remembers someone acting suspiciously in that area that day?
