Sherron Wilkins was a 34-year-old African-American man described by his wife, Sharee, as loving, caring and kind. The couple lived in northeast Houston, Texas. Just after midnight on February 19, 2016, someone knocked at the Wilkins’ home on the 4100 block of Englewood. Sherron and Sharee went outside to speak with an acquaintance; an altercation followed and the man pulled a pistol and shot Sherron multiple times while his wife watched.

A neighbor who had just returned from work heard three gunshots and found Sherron lying in the driveway. Sharee called 911 and attempted CPR until paramedics arrived; Sherron was taken to Ben Taub General Hospital, where he died. Witnesses described the shooter as a Black male who fled in a dark SUV, driving northbound on Englewood.

Investigators identified a 60-year-old man they believed was the shooter; he was detained and questioned and released on February 22, 2016, and the case was referred to a Harris County grand jury. The outcome of that referral is not known and the case remained unsolved as of February 2016. Anyone with information is asked to contact the HPD Homicide Division or Crime Stoppers.
