Dixie Mendez, 24, was killed during a drive-by shooting at a birthday party in Houston on August 31, 2014. The attack occurred in the early morning on Hiram Springs when an unknown person armed with an AR-15 style rifle fired into the home. Mendez was asleep in a back bedroom and was struck in the head, dying at the scene. She had recently learned she was pregnant.

Investigators found shell casings and bullet holes throughout the scene; the shooter had also fired at a second house before fleeing. No suspect has been identified and the family is asking anyone with information to contact authorities.
