Pamela Susan Gallagher, 38, was found dead in her Roanoke, Virginia apartment on June 25, 1993, after neighbors grew concerned about piled-up mail. Initially considered a possible suicide, the autopsy showed a deep neck injury inconsistent with an accident and the medical examiner ruled the death a homicide.

Investigators established that Pamela had been seen alive on June 23, when a neighbor recalled watching her argue with an unidentified man outside the building; she drove off and later returned alone. Inside the apartment there were no signs of forced entry, and her purse—containing about $100—remained untouched. The bedroom suggested a struggle: an ironing board and iron were knocked over and her glasses were broken beneath them. Her family said she had been emotionally distressed after a divorce; the ex-husband was investigated but had an alibi and was cleared. The man from June 23 was never identified and the witness later expressed uncertainty.

No arrests were ever announced and the case went cold. Did anyone in Roanoke know Pamela or recognize the man seen with her on June 23?
