Earl W. Potts, a 54-year-old African-American man, was shot and killed inside an apartment on the 1500 block of W. Orchard St. in Milwaukee on the evening of March 21, 2014. Shots were reported at about 7:30 p.m.; emergency crews found Potts suffering from a fatal gunshot wound and he was pronounced dead inside the residence.

Milwaukee police opened an investigation but publicly identified no suspects in the days after the shooting. Authorities described the circumstances as under active investigation and no arrests had been announced. Little else about the incident was released.
