On July 29, 2020, deputies responded to a home in the 100 block of Dalewood Manor Lane in Forestdale after a two-month-old infant, Amari Ruffin, was found unresponsive while reportedly sleeping with his father. The child was taken to a local children’s hospital and later pronounced dead. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office determined the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head and reported evidence of prior injuries consistent with abuse.
Those findings prompted a criminal inquiry by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and coordination with the Coroner and the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office. An arrest warrant for Capital Murder was issued for Jamarius Ruffin, who was taken into custody and held without bond.
Does anyone have information about Amari or the household that could help investigators?
