Cynthia Anabel Cindy Cardenas, 33, was killed in Bessemer, Alabama, in the early hours of Sunday, August 28, 2022. Police were called just before 6 a.m. to the 3300 block of Avenue C after an initial report of a possible stabbing; officers found Cindy slumped in the driver’s seat of a running vehicle and pronounced her dead at the scene after investigators determined she had been shot.

Authorities described the shooting as domestic-related and focused on Cindy’s relationship and the events the night before. Reports say she had attended a party the previous evening and had been with her boyfriend, Hector Medina-Grajeda, during the evening. A warrant charging Hector Medina-Grajeda, 28, with capital murder was obtained, and investigators pursued leads that placed him and his brother, Monseath Elezar Medina Grajeda, 24, in Lebanon, Tennessee, at a Days Inn before they checked out ahead of law enforcement’s arrival. Public bulletins described the charged suspect as at large as the search continued.

Cindy was remembered as a mother who enjoyed crafting and had an easy smile. If anyone saw Cindy that night or has information about the movements of Hector Medina-Grajeda after August 28, 2022, please come forward.
