Late on April 27, 2024, Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a 911 call reporting a person down on the 1500 block of Charter East Circle in Center Point, Alabama. They found 54-year-old Gemar Demetriece Hubbard unconscious; EMS was already rendering aid and transported him to a local hospital with serious injuries.

Hubbard died the next day, April 28, 2024. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office ruled the death a homicide due to blunt force trauma, reporting he had been assaulted with a blunt object. The Sheriff’s Office is investigating; no suspects have been publicly identified and no arrests or charges had been announced as of the latest reports.
