Robert Nell Mims-Daniels was 22 when he was fatally shot in Bay Minette, Alabama, on the night of July 20, 2021. Police found him on West Ellis Street with a gunshot wound; he was taken to a local hospital and later pronounced dead. The Baldwin County Major Crimes Unit took over the investigation.
Investigators identified 29-year-old Tyler Cardarius McCryndle of Spanish Fort as a suspect and obtained a murder warrant. McCryndle surrendered in the early hours of July 24, 2021, and was booked into the Baldwin County Corrections Center, held without bond pending a hearing. Prosecutors said there had been a prior altercation between McCryndle and Mims-Daniels earlier in the year, and two witnesses to the shooting were reported. A judge set bond at $300,000 with conditions of an ankle monitor and house arrest if released.
