A dispute on a Friday afternoon in Bessemer, Alabama, turned deadly when 25-year-old Carterrius Jamez Lowe was shot on February 15, 2019. The shooting occurred around 1:30 p.m. in the 200 block of 24th Street South. Lowe was transported to UAB Hospital’s Trauma Center in Birmingham but died shortly after arrival.

Authorities say 27-year-old Shaniqua Moore retrieved a firearm during the altercation and shot Lowe. Moore was taken into custody at the scene, a handgun was recovered, and a vehicle was towed as part of the investigation. Moore was charged with capital murder in connection with Lowe’s death.
