Robert Ronald Tippit, known as Bob, was 36 when he vanished from Topeka, Kansas in the late 1970s. Reports differ on the exact date of disappearance; he was last seen sometime in 1977 or 1978. Tippit is described as a white male, brown hair, brown eyes, 5 feet 10 inches and about 180 pounds. He used several aliases, including Richard Allan Lais, Ron Roberts and Arthur Dewuane Tippit.
After leaving Topeka he may have gone to California. In 1979 he testified against a suspect in a California prostitution case and was reportedly assaulted by associates of that suspect, an incident that reportedly prompted his return to Kansas. He is then believed to have moved to Kansas City, Missouri. Some records show a last contact on January 1, 1980, but details of that contact are not provided.
Very few details about Tippit’s movements after 1980 have emerged and the timeline contains conflicting dates and locations. Does anyone have information about Tippit’s whereabouts after January 1, 1980, or recall seeing him in Topeka, California or Kansas City around that time?
