I was looking into the details surrounding Harold Dupuis and realized the safety issues on the Simdan were more severe than I initially thought. A concerning factor mentioned in the investigation was the lack of guardrails. In the world of maritime work, isn’t it quite standard to have proper guardrails in place? It baffles me that this oversight wasn’t addressed sooner, especially in such treacherous waters as the St. Lawrence River. It makes me wonder how many other vessels out there might still be operating with similar deficiencies. Safety protocols should be non-negotiable—these brave fishermen deserve so much better. Thoughts?
