Hey everyone, Has anyone else thought about how tough it must have been for George to swim in the icy waters of Lake Winnipeg that night? I can't even imagine trying to make it to shore in those conditions, especially with the reported 10-foot waves. He was described as having a heavy build, and given the circumstances, it must have been incredibly challenging. I've read that swimming with clothes on is already difficult, but factor in the weight of soaked clothing and that freezing water... it makes you realize how brutal nature can be. I also keep thinking about how close he was to survival - only about 15 miles from the Poplar River when it all happened. It's just devastating to know he almost made it. I wish there was more information on whether he might have had a life jacket or any other safety gear. Anyone have more insight into standard safety protocols for boats like the one he was on?
