I've always found it intriguing how vivid the descriptions of Diane's appearance and belongings are. The green cotton packsack, her choice of clothing, the distinctive piercings—it paints such a clear picture of who she was. It makes me wonder if there's more significance in these details than meets the eye. Was the packsack ever found? Did anyone come across it along the routes she might have taken? Items like these can sometimes reappear in the most unexpected places or even get overlooked in evidence logs from the time. It's unfortunate that back in 1978, the tracking and cataloging of such personal effects weren't as advanced as they are today. There's also the aspect of her being pigeon-toed, which would have been quite noticeable. If anyone spotted her after that RCMP officer last saw her, you'd think this distinctive feature, paired with her height and her dog, would stick in someone's mind. I'm hoping that these descriptions will eventually jog someone's memory, even years after the fact.
