Lawrence Alton Oliver left his home in the North West River area of Newfoundland & Labrador on June 11, 1969, intending to go seal hunting on Lake Melville. He did not return that evening. At about 5:50 p.m. the Happy Valley-Goose Bay RCMP were notified after an empty boat was found drifting in Lake Melville near North West Point. The boat was confirmed to belong to Oliver.
Investigators believe he likely fell from the boat and drowned, but his body was never recovered. Does anyone have information about Oliver, his boat, or seal-hunting activity on Lake Melville in June 1969 that could help clarify what happened?
