Late on February 23, 2023, a grey car crashed into a telephone pole near 3rd Avenue and Hutchinson Street in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. What was first called a vehicle accident was later determined to be the scene of a shooting that occurred before the crash. Two males inside and near the vehicle had suffered gunshot wounds.

One of the victims was 20-year-old Kendrin Hicks, who was pronounced dead at the scene by the Jefferson County Deputy Coroner at 11:53 PM. The other male was taken to a Little Rock hospital with injuries. Kendrin Hicks’ body was sent to the state Crime Laboratory for autopsy. Pine Bluff Police have not released information about any suspect or motive, and provided no public updates on leads or arrests; this was the city’s third homicide of 2023.

If anyone has information about Kendrin Hicks, the shooting, or the crash, please share details with the Pine Bluff Police Department.
