Ryan John Marcus Shtuka was 20 and living and working in Sun Peaks, British Columbia, when he vanished in the early morning hours of February 17, 2018. He had finished his shift at the ski resort, joined roommates for a night out that included a Silent Disco at a pub, then attended a house party on Burfield Drive. A snowstorm hit that night and temperatures dropped; Ryan was last seen leaving the party at about 2:00 a.m., dressed in dark jeans, a grey and white shirt, a blue coat, and a burgundy ball cap, intending to walk the short distance home.
Friends reported him missing when he failed to show for his next work shift and there was no activity on his phone or social media. The RCMP and search and rescue used a helicopter and dog teams, and hundreds of volunteers from British Columbia and Alberta combed the village, forests, trails and gullies; Ryan’s family coordinated volunteer searches and remained in the area for months. Despite exhaustive searches continuing through snowmelt and for years afterward, no trace of Ryan or his belongings has been found. The RCMP has said there is no evidence of foul play but has not ruled it out, and the case remains open.
Did anyone in Sun Peaks or Beaumont have contact with Ryan around February 17, 2018, or remember seeing him that night?
