A summer evening in East Hartford ended in violence when 40-year-old Sean William Arcari was shot and killed at an apartment building on Burnside Avenue. Police responded shortly before 8 p.m. on Sunday, July 23, 2023; emergency responders provided care but Arcari died at the scene. Investigators say an altercation escalated to gunfire and the suspect fled before officers arrived.
A witness reported sitting with Arcari on a second-floor landing before Arcari went to an apartment occupied by a man known as Kevin. An argument about drugs reportedly followed, during which Arcari pushed the man back into the apartment; gunshots were then heard and the suspect ran. Detectives quickly developed a person of interest and, within days, identified 39-year-old Keiran Walker. He was taken into custody after a brief foot chase and later charged with Arcari’s murder; charges also included illegal possession of a firearm and possession of narcotics with intent to sell. Officers recovered a New Jersey license and Social Security card bearing Walker’s name in the apartment, bags of fentanyl and cocaine, and two shell casings.
If anyone saw activity on Burnside Avenue that evening or has information about the argument that led to the shooting, please come forward.
