Albert Camentz, 58, died of a gunshot wound after an incident at the Berkshire by the Sea beachfront condo on North Ocean Boulevard, just north of Atlantic Avenue. The shooting occurred during a small gathering on the night of September 13, 2023; Camentz had been invited by friends Jack Feinberg and Susan Schneider after they left a club in Boca Raton. Mark David Anderson, 45, the timeshare occupant, emerged from his room holding a black object later identified as a gun and shot Camentz. Witnesses heard a loud boom and saw Camentz fall, then get up about 15 minutes later.
His companions drove him more than six miles to their home on Petunia Road; he initially refused hospital care but became pale and in distress, prompting a 911 call around 2:45 a.m. Paramedics found evidence of a gunshot and took him to Delray Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 3:29 p.m. Delray Beach police arrested Anderson on first-degree murder charges after finding a gun, ammunition and substances in the condo; he declined to speak and requested an attorney. Witness accounts conflict in parts, but Schneider identified Anderson as the shooter; Feinberg gave inconsistent statements and said his confusion was related to a cognitive disorder.
The motive remains unclear.
