Paul Rhoads, a 56-year-old Caucasian man, was fatally shot on January 22, 2023, in Appleton, Wisconsin. He was found bleeding in the middle of Briarcliff Drive and died after being taken to a local hospital. The Appleton Police Department treated the incident as a homicide.
Investigators identified 37-year-old Yia Lor as a person of interest. According to the criminal complaint, a witness said Rhoads had arranged a drug deal with Lor, and that Lor shot Rhoads shortly after arriving in Appleton. Lor was hospitalized after a police chase in Sheboygan, then held on a probation violation while authorities sought an arrest warrant and murder charges. In March 2023 Lor was charged with first-degree intentional homicide and a judge set a $2 million cash bond; his transfer to the county jail was delayed for medical reasons.
By July 2023 a court found sufficient evidence for Lor to stand trial in Rhoads’ death. Does anyone have information about Rhoads, his movements that day, or the Briarcliff Drive area that could shed light on what happened?
