Derrick Williams, 33, was fatally shot in the early hours of July 5, 2024, in Clarksdale, Mississippi, after an argument at a local club escalated into gunfire on Madison Street. Williams was one of four people wounded; the other three were driven to Northwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in a speeding vehicle, while Williams was removed from that car and left on the street. A citizen later found him unresponsive and took him to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead from a gunshot wound.
As of July 2024 investigators had opened an inquiry and the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation was assisting with this and other recent homicides in the city. No witnesses had come forward and no arrests or suspects had been publicly identified.
If anyone was near Madison Street that night or has information about the argument at the club or the vehicle that transported the other victims, please contact the Clarksdale Police Department.
