On a Valentine’s Day afternoon in Irmo, South Carolina, 26-year-old Alexandria Cress Borys was shot and killed in the parking lot of a Kroger. Borys, a nursing student and cosmetologist, was in her car with her two-year-old and an infant when a verbal dispute with a woman later identified as 23-year-old Christina Harrison escalated into gunfire. Witnesses said the two did not know each other and that the argument concerned right-of-way in the lot; the Irmo police chief reported witnesses said Borys spat at Harrison and that as Borys turned to walk away she was shot in the back of the head and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Christina Harrison fled in a white Ford but turned herself in about an hour and a half later and was arrested and charged with murder, unlawfully carrying a pistol, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. Borys’s husband, Tyler Borys, went to the scene and later established a GoFundMe to create a memorial in her honor. The community reacted with shock to the sudden, violent death.
If anyone saw the argument in the Kroger parking lot or has information about what happened that afternoon, please share what is known with the Irmo Police Department.
