On the evening of January 4, 2023, deputies in Franklin County, Missouri, responded to reports of gunfire in the 2400 block of Spring Valley Drive near Pacific and found a pickup truck had crashed into a house. Inside the truck were two gunshot victims: 39-year-old Ronald G. Cline Jr. was found deceased at the scene, and his girlfriend, 34-year-old Leslie N. Barstow, was critically injured and later died at a local hospital.

Investigators say the shooting occurred while Cline was driving and a third person in the back seat opened fire on Cline and Barstow. Witnesses reported hearing gunshots and seeing a vehicle flee. Detectives described the motive as robbery and identified 37-year-old Timothy J. Kalter of St. Louis as the primary suspect, for whom a no-bond warrant was issued on charges including two counts of first-degree murder, first-degree robbery and armed criminal action.

On January 15, police located Kalter, followed him in a high-speed pursuit that ended in a crash on Interstate 55 near Bates Avenue in St. Louis City, and took him into custody. Does anyone have information about the events that night or about the victims’ movements earlier that evening?
