Jeimy Alexander Bohorquez-Reyes, 47, was found dead from apparent gunshot wounds on July 28, 2024, on the northbound side of U.S. Highway 321 north of N.C. Highway 268 near Lenoir, North Carolina. Bohorquez-Reyes, a husband and father of two (ages 8 and 10), worked as an independent driver providing local transportation in the Charlotte area. On the night of July 27 he accepted a ride request for three people to a destination about two hours from Charlotte and stayed in contact with his wife Sandra until about 11:40 p.m., after which he did not respond.

Several hours after the body was found, his burgundy 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee was located in Charlotte; evidence indicated someone had attempted to set the vehicle on fire. A joint investigation by the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department and the State Bureau of Investigation produced arrests: 21-year-old Felix Alexander Mejia was charged with first-degree murder and held without bond; 18-year-old Ricci Elisabeth Cano Puerto was charged with accessory after the fact to first-degree murder and held on a $250,000 secured bond; and 20-year-old Rina Marbella Cano has an active Caldwell County warrant for accessory after the fact while being in custody in Mecklenburg County on unrelated charges. The motive remains under investigation.

The family, who moved from Colombia to Charlotte in 2022, has expressed devastation and called for justice. Does anyone have information about Bohorquez-Reyes’s last confirmed movements or the vehicle’s discovery in Charlotte?
