Audie Wayne Green, 62, was found shot to death inside a vehicle along Highway 25 West in Campbell County, Tennessee, on July 17, 2024. The body was located roughly a mile south of the turnoff for Highway 90; Green was a resident of the White Oak community.
Investigators from the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation identified 33-year-old Joshua Cox as a passenger who had been with Green in the vehicle and determined Cox was responsible for the killing. Cox, already jailed on unrelated charges in early August, was served with warrants in the homicide; he was later indicted on one count of second-degree murder. At an October 2024 arraignment Cox pleaded not guilty and his counsel said a mental health evaluation was scheduled. The case was continued to February 18, 2025, as proceedings moved forward.
Does anyone who knew Audie or who was in the White Oak area that day have information that could help clarify what happened?
