I can't believe the devastating wave of loss that the LASD is experiencing right now. Commander Darren Harris was someone who’d given the entirety of his career to serve and protect his community, and it’s just devastating to hear about his passing alongside the others in such a short time frame. Being a part of law enforcement is undoubtedly a high-pressure job, so I can’t even begin to imagine how overwhelming it must feel for those still serving, dealing with the loss of their colleagues. It’s crucial now more than ever for departments to increase robust mental health support and not just put a spotlight on it during tragic times like this. I'm hoping that the measures Sheriff Robert Luna is taking can make a genuine difference going forward. To anyone reading this who is part of the LASD or any other law enforcement agency, please know there are people who care about your well-being and that reaching out for help should never be stigmatized. You're appreciated more than words can express. My heart goes out to the families, friends, and colleagues of Commander Harris and the others during this incredibly tough time.
