On May 14, 2023, at about 1:31 p.m., deputies responded to a reported shooting in the 22200 block of Lark Street in Grand Terrace, California. Inside the home they found 68-year-old Scott Welsher suffering from gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene. His wife, 68-year-old Karen Welsher, was detained at the scene and later arrested on suspicion of murder under California Penal Code 187. She was taken to a hospital for evaluation before being booked into custody.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division Homicide Detail is handling the case. Authorities have not released details about a motive or the events that led to the shooting and describe the investigation as ongoing.
