On the evening of August 28, 2018, officers in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, responded to reports of yelling and screaming at a residence on West 40th Avenue. Inside, 20-year-old Jamonte Smith was found on the floor with a gunshot wound. He was taken by ambulance to Jefferson Regional Medical Center and was later pronounced dead; his body was sent to the state crime lab for autopsy. Smith was recorded as Pine Bluff’s 16th homicide victim of the year.
A 20-year-old, Lecole Wilson, was at the residence when officers arrived and was later interviewed at the police station. Wilson was arrested and booked at the Jefferson County Jail on a charge of first-degree murder. Investigators executed a search warrant at the home and recovered a .22 caliber handgun believed to be the weapon used in the shooting.
Does anyone have information about the events at that West 40th Avenue residence on August 28, 2018?
