On the morning of June 24, 2019, 40-year-old Anthony McKinstry was fatally shot in the head on a driveway on Bishop Avenue in Bridgeport, Connecticut. McKinstry, originally from Stamford but living in North Carolina at the time, had been visiting a friend and earlier that night had been at a club with two friends. He had stepped out of the car to buy frozen alcoholic drinks known as Nutcrackers and was waiting in the backyard when a witness heard a single gunshot and then saw a man run from the scene. McKinstry was pronounced dead at the scene.
Bridgeport Police identified 35-year-old Eugene Brown as the primary suspect after a witness named Brown as the man seen with McKinstry just before the shot. Surveillance footage reportedly showed a man with a limp fleeing the area; investigators learned Brown walked with a limp after being shot in the legs the previous year. Another witness said Brown asked her to drive him past the shooting location later that day to look at the police activity. Brown was arrested on September 17, 2019, and charged with murder and weapons offenses; those charges were pending as the investigation continued.
Does anyone have information about McKinstry’s movements that night or about the man seen leaving the scene?
