Kathleen Lorraine Vigil, also known as Kathleen Jaramillo, was found dead at her home in the San Ildefonso Pueblo area of Santa Fe County on November 21, 2020. She was 57 and a native of Los Alamos, New Mexico. A male caller placed a 911 call saying he had shot and killed his girlfriend; that call was traced to a number held by Leonard Francis Kieren, 60, of Buckeye, Arizona, who became the prime suspect.
Recordings and affidavits say Kieren called 911 at 6:52 a.m., reported he had come to pick up his girlfriend to leave for Thanksgiving, found she had been cheating, and described a struggle in which he knocked a 9 mm out of her hands, slammed her on the bed, and shot her in the head. He called again at 9:52 a.m., saying he had hit the victim, put the gun back in her hand, covered her with a blanket, and left. Deputies found Jaramillo-Vigil’s body on Little Bird Road; investigators reported Kieren had known the victim since high school and more recently lived with her as a roommate.
Kieren was described as 6 feet 2 inches, 250 lbs, with brown hair and hazel eyes, and was believed to be armed and dangerous.
Did anyone in the San Ildefonso Pueblo area know Kathleen or Leonard and have information about their relationship or the days before November 21, 2020?
