Todd Eugene Davis, 48, was killed while working as a contractor installing turf at Sunrise Point Elementary School in Overland Park, Kansas, on July 3, 2018. An argument with co-workers escalated into gunfire; Davis was shot and later died. A co-worker, Efren Joaquin Gomez, was also shot and left in critical condition. No students were present at the school and no staff were involved.

Davis was born in Kansas City, Missouri, on May 6, 1970, and was a devoted father to three children, Tanner, Taylor, and Tucker. He graduated from Ruskin High School, rode a Harley-Davidson, and enjoyed Fourth of July celebrations. The man accused in the shooting, 32-year-old Anthony David Grable of Kansas City, Missouri, fled the scene, attempted to hijack vehicles, stole a GMC Denali, and later surrendered after a standoff at the SUV owner’s home.

Grable was charged with one count of premeditated murder in Davis’s death, one count of attempted premeditated murder for the shooting of Gomez, three counts of aggravated assault, two counts of aggravated robbery, and one count of burglary, and was held on $1 million bond.
