On the morning of April 27, 2015, 56-year-old Richard Rick Napier was shot dead inside a mobile home in a park on Southeast Kent-Kangley Road in Ravensdale, Washington. Napier had gone to help a woman move out of the trailer she shared with Jeremy S. Blakely. According to witness accounts, Blakely returned to the trailer armed, confronted Napier, demanded to know why he was interfering, and shot Napier in the chest; a second shot was fired while Napier was on the floor. Deputies from the King County Sheriff’s Office found Napier deceased in the kitchen; Blakely was at the scene and admitted to the shooting when arrested.

Blakely, 35 at the time, was a convicted child rapist who was prohibited from possessing firearms; investigators say the pistol used in the killing had been stolen. He was charged with second-degree murder, his defense claimed the shooting was self-defense, and a jury later found him guilty. Anyone who knew Napier, Blakely, or the trailer park and has information about that morning is asked to come forward.
