On a Sunday morning in September 2018, 49-year-old Miyuki Wofford was killed inside her Jackson, Mississippi home. She, her 67-year-old mother Eddie Mae Wofford, and her 26-year-old daughter Kyisha Wofford were found with multiple gunshot wounds at the residence.

Jackson police responded to a call about a person being held against their will and discovered Miyuki’s 22-year-old son Maurice Forte outside the house, sitting in a wheelchair with a firearm nearby. Forte told officers he had shot someone and was taken into custody and charged with three counts of murder. The investigation showed Forte had made the call to police after the shootings. Authorities had not immediately released a motive for the killings.
